A former keyboard player with the Backstreet Boys has filed a copyright suit claiming co-ownership of two songs on the group’s Jive album “Black & Blue,” Billboard Bulletin reports. The suit – filed Friday by Tommy Smith in U.S District Court for the Central District in Los Angeles -names group members Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean, Howard Dorough, and Kevin Richardson. Also named is Zomba Enterprises, the publishing arm of the Zomba Group, which has an undisclosed stake in the songs. Creed are about to bring the crushing riffs and uplifting spectacle of their live show to a coliseum or dome near you. The second leg of the group’s tour in support of Weathered is set to kick off April 29 in Fargo, North Dakota. Music CDs equipped with copy protection will, if Rick Boucher gets his wish, soon be as obsolete as eight-track cassettes. The feisty Democratic congressman from Virginia says he plans to introduce legislation banning, or at least regulating, compact discs outfitted with anti-copying technology.
