One of U2’s chief collaborators has confirmed that the band will release a second best-of compilation this fall. More than two months before the album is officially released, listeners got a feel for the new Korn album Untouchable on Tuesday (April 2), thanks to syndicated radio personalities Opie and Anthony. The shock jocks, whose four-hour afternoon radio show is syndicated in 18 cities nationwide from New York station WNEW, played four songs from Korn’s fifth album, due June 11, at approximately 3:30 ET. Lou Pearlman, the hitmaker behind the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync, has been cleared of allegations that he broke child labor laws. The Florida Department of Labor said there was no evidence that Pearlman and his Orlando-based company, Trans Continental Entertainment, violated such rules as making minors work past 11:30 p.m, as alleged by the mother of two of his former entertainers. Kenneth W. The train keeps a-rollin’ for Aerosmith, the bad boys of American rock ‘n’ roll, who are working on a slew of projects before returning to the concert circuit in the fall. Marilyn Manson have set The Golden Age of Grotesque as the title for their forthcoming album, the band’s namesake singer announced Thursday (March 21). Although the group is still recording, Manson described the album on his official Web site as a “genius deluge of hardcore guitar-drum violence” and “reckless electronic-punk vaudeville mixed with ’30s cabaret decadence.” Producers Tim Skold (KMFDM) and Ben Gross (Filter) are working with the group on The Golden Age of Grotesque, for which Manson said several songs are finished, including one called “Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth.” Manson described the album last fall as… Read more »

Songs by Sum 41, Alien Ant Farm, Default and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor as well as a collaboration between Jerry Cantrell and members of Nickelback and Saliva are being considered for the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie soundtrack. Sum 41 plan to contribute a Rick Rubin-produced version of “It’s What We’re All About,” and they’re shooting a video for the tune Wednesday (March 20) in their hometown of Toronto, according to an Island Def Jam spokesperson.
