Osbourne Lose Family Member

“The Osbournes” reality show has lost a member of the family. Sharon Osbourne tells “Us Weekly” in its July 28 issue that her black Chihuahua, Lulu, was recently killed by coyotes that jumped a low fence at her home. “It’s so heartbreaking,” she says. Osbourne tells the magazine the Osbournes’ Pomeranian, Pipi, was attacked earlier this month, but was saved by her husband, Ozzy. “Ozzy heard the screams and fought and got Pip out of the coyote’s mouth,” she says. “The Osbournes” will return for 20 new episodes on MTV early next year. Filming at the family’s Beverly Hills mansion… Read more »

He estimates the tour raised at least $2 million. “Because of you, there will be education, prevention, and there will be healing. Sharon Osbourne Hits TV Talk Show Circuit

Is daytime TV ready for the late-night mouth of Sharon Osbourne? The audience will be the judge when the 50-year old mother of the badly-behaved Osbourne clan hits the air with her own talk show this fall. Osbourne says her show-simply called Sharon-will be a bit less highbrow than at least one of its competitors. She tells Reuters, “I could never be as good as Oprah. I won’t be recommending books. That’s not my thing. My experience is life.” The TV producer, rock and roll manager and cancer survivor plans to profile real life people with interesting stories. What viewers… Read more »

Ruben Studdard Confronted By Rabid Claymates At Tour Stop – Review

“American Idol” Ruben Studdard is lucky he has a healthy ego. Not only is “Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken beating the champ on the Billboard singles charts, but on the fifth stop of the “Idol” summer tour, the spiky-haired crooner proved that he’s winning the battle for the hearts and minds of “Idol” fans across the country. Even before the nine “Idol” finalists took the stage at U.S. Bank Arena Sunday night to perform a nearly two-and-a-half-hour medley of covers, the mere sight of Clay’s face on the two Jumbotron screens flanking the massive neon ballroom set was enough to elicit… Read more »

The Osbournes Keep Coming Back For More

What’s that old saying – behind every great man there is an even greater woman? Well, that certainly seems to be the case with legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his manager/wife Sharon. Despite her aging husband’s drug addiction, hip problems and overall incoherence, Sharon Osbourne has kept the Ozzman’s feet firmly planted in the heart of the entertainment world. Aside from managing his hectic touring schedule, Sharon also finagled a reality-TV deal with MTV, allowing cameras to capture all the cursing, craziness, and, well, more cursing that fills the Osbourne home on a daily basis. Of course, the season is… Read more »

Jane's Addiction Back with 1st Album in 13 Years

Assembling a promotional campaign for a veteran band that has been out of the spotlight is a tough enough feat. But Capitol Records is facing the daunting task of reintroducing a group that hasn’t released a new album in 13 years. Luckily, the campaign behind pioneering alternative rock outfit Jane’s Addiction’s “Strays,” due July 22, has had a huge prerelease boost from first single “Just Because.” The song is No. 4 on Modern Rock Tracks after four weeks, returning Jane’s Addiction to the top of the format at which it scored five top 15 hits between 1988 and 1991. The… Read more »

Music Biz Seeking Profits at 99 Cents

The music industry may have begun to figure out how to sell digital downloads, but making money from them is another story. As the 99 cent digital singles model begins to take root across the industry through services like Apple Computer’s iTunes Music Store, Liquid Audio, Rhapsody and a host of others set to bow for the PC this fall, industry executives and artist representatives are questioning whether the pricing model makes sense financially. With all parties involved angling for nickels and dimes in the average download sale, labels, artists and service providers all agree on at least one thing:… Read more »

Rancid Album Won't Mention Warner Bros. Name

In a move likely designed to appeal to fans disappointed by indie punk band Rancid’s switch to Warner Bros., the group’s new album will not carry any mention of the label’s name. The veteran act has left its long-time home of Hellcat/Epitaph Records for the release of its forthcoming album, “Indestructible,” due Aug. 26. A spokesperson for the band says Rancid will continue to be aligned with Hellcat, the label co-run by frontman Tim Armstrong and Epitaph founder/Bad Religion member Brett Gurewitz. “It’s a unique deal that doesn’t play by the traditional record biz rules,” says the spokesperson. “It’s Rancid… Read more »
