Viacom yesterday reported results for the full year and fourth quarter ended December 31, 2001. For 2001, Viacom reported a 16 percent increase in revenues to $23.22 billion, but also reported a net loss of $224 million, or a loss of $.13 per share, for the year ended December 31, 2001, including a net loss of $43 million, or a loss of $.02 per share, for the fourth quarter. A Depeche Mode performance filmed last year at the Palais Omnisports in Paris will be aired as a two-hour pay per view concert starting March 8th. One Night in Paris, The Exciter Tour will be available through iN Demand (8 p.m. ET), TVN, Echostar and DirecTV (all 9 p.m.) through April 9th. For any young band, the idea of performing before thousands on their first arena tour is a daunting proposal. The fourth annual Ultra festival will kick off the Winter Music Conference, a yearly five-day electronic music gathering that has been transforming Miami Beach into the epicenter of DJ culture for 17 years. Britney Spears’s new Pepsi commercial will be unveiled during the first quarter of the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 3). The 90-second ad, dubbed “Now And Then,” will take viewers on a ride through Pepsi’s advertising history-the Pepsi Generations. Spears stars in Pepsi commercials with ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s themes, rocking all the way up to 2002 with her updated version of the “Joy Of Pepsi” song. The film features cameo appearances by some of the biggest names in teen pop, including Britney Spears, ‘N Sync, O-Town, and LFO, among others. The Neptunes, the hit-making songwriting and producing duo comprising Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, on Tuesday said they formed a joint venture label with Arista Records to be called Star Trak Entertainment. The Neptunes, and manager Robert Walker, have signed an exclusive deal that calls for the duo to produce artists signed to Star Trak Entertainment as well as Arista Records and its other labels, and develop new repertoire.
