Frampton now lives near his wife’s hometown of Cincinnati, and described himself as the only Democrat in the… Read more »

Sum 41: Survive For The Rocking

Just like everything that surrounds Sum 41, Chuck, the band’s fourth full-length album, has an outlandish story behind it. Last May, the group of 20-somethings were in the Congo, doing the charitable rock star thing by filming a documentary for War Child Canada about the civil war there, which has claimed over three million lives. In the midst of their altruistic act, the band suddenly found themselves in the midst of a serious violent outbreak as gun-fighting and bombs began falling just outside of their hotel. We caught up with Dave “Brown Sound” Baksh to talk a bit about dodging… Read more »

Love Gets Daughter Back

Legally challenged rocker Courtney Love can put “parent” back on the list of things she sometimes does-right up there with “sing” and “act.” A judge ruled Monday that Love could regain custody of her 12-year-old daughter, Frances Bean, whose father is the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. “Frances has been returned to [Love] after a judge indicated satisfaction in Ms. Love’s efforts to turn around her life and found it was in the best interests of mother and daughter to be reunited,” Love’s attorney, Howard Weitzman, said in a statement. Frances has not been in Love’s care since her mother’s… Read more »

U2 has postponed the announcement of dates for their world tour in support of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. The band had planned to announce the U.S. and international dates on Monday, but that has been put off indefinitely, according to manager Paul McGuinness. “We’ve postponed the announcement of the tour because the routing is still being worked on,” McGuinness said in a statement. “As soon as we get everything confirmed over the coming weeks, we’ll let you know.” A band spokesperson would not comment on media reports that the postponement was due to a family illness. Record Collector to Sell Off Inventory

Pittsburgh – Behind a record store’s suburban strip mall facade sits a vaultlike storeroom that resembles dimly lit library stacks. Few customers make it behind Record-Rama Sound Archives’ checkout counter to find hundreds of thousands of LPs, CDs and 45s – which represent the last 48 years of Paul Mawhinney’s life. Mawhinney, a 65-year-old grandfather of five, claims to have accumulated nearly 3 million recordings – everything from a radio promotional album by the Rolling Stones to a rare release from Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy. He also created a database of about 700,000 titles that allows users to search… Read more »

German Cannibal Helps Rammstein Write New Single

The message posted in an Internet chat room read, “Seeking well-built man, 18-30 years old for slaughter.” A few months later, a user responded: “I offer myself to you and will let you dine from my live body. Not butchery, dining!!” It wasn’t a joke, and what followed was far more gruesome and bizarre than the plot of nearly any horror film. In March 2001, Armin Meiwes, a 42-year-old computer technician in Hesse, Germany, killed, dismembered and ate 43-year-old microchip engineer Bernd Juergen Brandes. While Brandes was still alive, the two dined on parts of his flesh together, then Meiwes… Read more »

Prince, Madonna Tours Top Draws in Difficult Year

Los Angeles – In a dismal year for the touring industry, with ticket prices soaring and seats going unsold, music fans in North America partied like it was 1989 as Prince and Madonna topped the concert box office. Prince also worked a bit harder for his payday, playing 96 shows, compared with 39 for Madonna. Canadian pop singer Celine Dion actually topped Madonna by about $900,000, but her haul came exclusively from 154 dates performed at… Read more »
