Foo Fighters Drummer Sidelined By 'Overindulgence'


The rock band Foo Fighters have canceled their European tour after drummer Taylor Hawkins was admitted to hospital, the group have said. A statement from the band on Tuesday said Hawkins was the victim of “overindulgence” at a weekend pop festival. Shows in Portugal, Edinburgh, London and Dublin have now been canceled. “Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was hospitalized yesterday morning after having apparently overindulged during festivities following the V2001 festival in Chelmsford, UK,” the statement said. “Hawkins is reported to be in a stable condition,” it said. Bono Flies Back To Dying Father After Each U2 Gig


Bono, lead singer of the Irish rock supergroup U2, is flying back to Dublin every night after the band’s concerts to be with his father, who is dying of cancer. At their weekend concert in London, the singer dedicated the song “Kite” from their latest album to his father, Bob Hewson. Five Star Guilty Of Being Drunk And Disorderly


Five member Ritchie Neville has pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk and disorderly and breaching the peace, following a bar brawl in DUBLIN last year. Neville’s arrest followed an incident at the Palace Bar in Dublin last December, while his band were in the city to undertake promotional duties. Fellow band member Jason Brown is also charged with assault relating to the incident. Irish Govt Steps In After Row Over U2 Concert


The Irish government moved on Tuesday to fast-track new regulations on the licensing of outdoor rock concerts after tickets for a gig by Irish band U2 sold out in record time, to the anger of disappointed fans.
