Footwear company Vans Inc. is making one more giant leap into the music business, teaming up with Pennywise punk rocker Jim Lindberg to form Vans Records, a label that will mine the lucrative skateboard, snowboard and surf culture. Def Leppard are putting the finishing touches on their tenth album, tentatively titled “X” and due later this year. The band recorded the follow-up to 1999’s Euphoria last year in Los Angeles and Sweden, with drummer Rick Allen adding his parts last December in Dublin. Southern California punk rockers Sugarcult gave new meaning to the saying “bring down the house” in Detroit on Wednesday when their performance at St. Andrew’s Hall was cut short because the floor was caving in. Just after performing their third song and latest single, “Bouncing Off the Walls,” Sugarcult were ordered to halt their set when a manager in the room below the club noticed the ceiling caving in as concertgoers, well, bounced off the walls. The Tiger Woods Foundation announced today that Grammy-award winning artists Don Henley and Train will perform at the Tiger Jam V benefit concert presented by Coca-Cola and hosted by Tiger Woods. The fifth annual event will take place on April 20, 2002, at 8:30 PM in the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Limp Bizkit’s tour manager said today (March 1) that a Sydney concert where a teenage girl was killed was understaffed and poorly managed. Alexander Murdoch MacLeod was the first person from the Fred Durst-led band’s management to appear at the Australian inquest into the death of 15-year-old Jessica Michalik, who was caught in a crowd crush and suffered a heart attack at the concert on Jan. 26, 2001.
