Injured Static-X Bassist Will Go 'Vocals Only' On Tour


Static-X bassist Tony Campos sustained a broken collarbone in a motorcycle accident Monday near his Los Angeles home. The accident will sideline him for the first few dates of the band’s stint alongside monumental metallers Pantera and Slayer on the Extreme Steel Tour. Singer Wayne Static, drummer Ken Jay and new guitarist Tripp Eisen will hit the road Wednesday with their bassist providing only backing vocals, according to the group’s manager. Methods of Mayhem’s Marty O’Brien, whom the band met during last year’s Ozzfest, will assume instrumental duties for the next few weeks until the doctor gives Campos the go-ahead.… Read more »

"Now 6" Compilation Tops Pop Charts


Straight from mainstream radio into your CD player, the sixth installment of Sony/Epic’s compilation series “Now That’s What I Call Music!” blasted its way to the top of the album charts this week, knocking late rapper Tupac Shakur back into the hereafter. “Now 6,” as it’s commonly called, sold more than 525,000 copies for the week ended Sunday, according to rankings data from SoundScan.
