As everyone heads back to their hometowns for the holidays, Wheatus reminds fans that we’re all still “Christmas Dirtbag.” The jolly re-work of their iconic song “Teenage Dirtbag” landed in listeners’ stockings yesterday from their latest release, Just A Dirtbag Christmas EP. It also features two original Christmas songs, a cover of “Feels Like Christmas,” and an instrumental strings revision of “Teenage Dirtbag.” Frontman Brendan B. Brown took to Instagram to announce the EP and to call for fans to submit videos for the single’s music video. He says, “We’re making a video! We’re making a Christmas Dirtbag…and you should… Read more »

It’s that time of year when we all look back on the albums that served as the soundtrack to the last 12 months. Detroit’s own alternative act on the rise, UNWELL, launched into their new era with their debut album Trial & Error, accompanied by a new visualizer for their track “Leaves.” Lead singer Matt Copley described how the song fully encompasses the band’s relationship with the fall season. “This is a breakup/heartache song all wrapped up in a metaphor about autumn,” he says. “There’s a lot of beauty in this song the way it compares a relationship to the autumn leaves changing and dying, growing cold, etc. There’s a sense of longing for what you had even though it’s long past. Indie-rock group, Mom Jeans has surprised us all today by dropping a new album, Bear Market. Technically the songs aren’t new, but the sound and execution is entirely fresh. Bear Market consists of sixteen popular Mom Jeans tracks completely re-imagined and re-worked into beautiful, new versions. The band has even given each track a different name, while still paying tribute to the original title. For example, “Edward 40Hands” is now just “40 hands“, “Death Cup” is now “death by cup“, and “What’s Up?” is now “wassup 😉.” We love the clever approach – recognizable but easily differentiated. “We had all… Read more »
Indio Downey, poised to release his debut solo EP, Cigarettes In Bed, on January 19, 2024, beckons with a soul-stirring prelude—his latest single, “Dume.” This resonant composition stands as the third preview to the forthcoming 6-track opus, peeling back the layers of Downey’s past struggles with addiction. Under the guise of a symphony of shimmering synths, a heavy bassline, and Downey’s mellifluous delivery, “Dume” serves as a caustic metaphor, intricately entangling the threads of a fatal attraction to the seductive allure of self-destruction. In the broader view, Cigarettes In Bed emerges as a labyrinth of one’s own vulnerabilities and arduous… Read more »
