O-Town Set To Conquer L-Town

Concert promoters say London is a last-minute town when it comes to ticket buying… but not when it’s O-Town fans doing the buying.  It took just 100 minutes for the first of tomorrow’s two Centennial Hall shows by the boy band machine to sell out two months ago. The second show went almost as quickly to fans who had lined up unsuccessfully for that first show. That’s more than 3,000 tickets.  As the late, great Jim Morrison of the Doors used to intone, the men don’t know, but the little girls understand.  The thing that sets this American five-piece group… Read more »

Review: Blink-182, Take Off Your Pants And Jacket

You can dismiss Blink-182 as cartoons if you like. They’re certainly not going to stop you. They even call their new album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket: Say it out loud, let your inner eighth-grader savor the cadence of the phrase. It sums up Blink-182’s wiseass brat-punk ethos almost as well as their recent live album, The Mark, Tom and Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back), which featured the butt-stupidest stage banter since Kiss’ Alive! (Mark: “You can leave now and beat the traffic!” Tom: “Or you can stay and beat your meat!” – and they get paid for… Read more »

'VH1 All Access: Rock & Religion' Examines The Influence Of Spirituality On Pop Music

The old feud between rock music and organized religion has given way to a more open embrace of spirituality. But mixing the two is still as dangerous as ever – these days, appearing too religious can jeopardize an artist’s credibility and commercial appeal. “VH1 All Access: Rock & Religion” takes an in-depth look at the influence of religion on pop music – from imagery in music videos, to artists’ spiritual journeys, to the internal struggles faced by Christian roots rockers in the 1950s – when the latest edition of the hit weekly one-hour series premieres Thursday, June 21 at 10:00… Read more »

Anonymously Written, A Controversial Manuscript Details Lou Pearlman's "Pimp Management"

A Whodunit mystery has ignited over a manuscript that takes a scathing look at Louis J. Pearlman and his Orlando Florida boy band factory otherwise known as Trans Continental Records. The tell-all is already creating debate over whether it is penned by one of the BackStreet Boys or *NSYNC.   Both of these Pearlman created supergroups have had messy legal clashes with him which they may now want to talk, albeit anonymously. “Obviously I can’t say much about who the author is”, says publicist Robert Lloyd,   “But I can say that the author is not a group but rather… Read more »

Willa Ford Overcomes BSB Fan Jealousy

Thanks to the thumping, Britney-like hit “I Wanna Be Bad,” Willa Ford has made the transition from one of the most hated figures in pop music to one of its fastest rising stars. A child prodigy as a singer, the 20-year-old Ford – whose real name is Amanda Williford – first claimed fame as the girlfriend of Backstreet Boys cutie Nick Carter. For that she was vilified by jealous fans, who spread rumors about her mistreating Carter physically and emotionally. At one point before their breakup last October, there were more nearly four dozen anti-Willa chat groups operating on Yahoo!… Read more »

Wanted: Backstreet Men For Older-Is-Better Pop Group

A London publicity firm is forming the world’s first “man band,” a pop group consisting of five musically talented men over the age of 50. “If you look at Tom Jones, Elton John and Mick Jagger, these guys are getting better as they get older,” said Kizzi Nkwocha, an executive at 15 Minutes, the company launching the project. “We’re not sure why no one has thought of this before. Instead you have all of these young musical butterflies. They look beautiful for a few days and then they die.” “If you look at Tom Jones, Elton John and Mick Jagger,… Read more »
