A capacity crowd of 18,000 happy revelers packed Vancouver’s GM Place Saturday night for a sold-out show, featuring Lavigne, McLachlan, Delerium, Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida and Sum 41 and the Barenaked Ladies. New York – Along with several large concerts in the planning stages, artists around the world are putting on their own benefit shows or donating to funds for the victims of the recent tsunami in Southern Asia. Sting will play a Feb. 10 concert at the Leeuwin Estate Winery in Perth, Australia, with 100% of the net proceeds donated to the relief efforts. MTV pulled the plug on Avril Lavigne’s appearance on Total Request Live yesterday after the teenage pop star stuck up her middle finger during the show’s telecast. According to a report in New York’s Daily News, TRL host Damien Fahey asked Lavigne for her thoughts about labels that had been placed on her by the media, to which the Canadian singer responded by flipping the bird in the direction of the camera. Police have arrested a man in Seattle for allegedly stalking Avril Lavigne. According to the Associated Press, 30-year-old James Speedy was taken into custody in the Seattle suburb of Lynnwood and was taken to Lynnwood County jail after police searched his home last Wednesday (April 7). Police in Lynnwood have been investigating the case since Canadian police informed them that harassing letters and emails were being sent to Lavigne last year.
