Recording Academy Announces 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award and Trustees Award Recipients


Recipients of the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award and Trustees Awards were announced today by Michael Greene, President/CEO of the Recording Academy. Pianist and band leader Count Basie and recording artists Perry Como, Rosemary Clooney, Al Green, and Joni Mitchell will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards. Engineer/producer Tom Dowd and original rock disc jockey Alan Freed will be honored with Trustees Awards. Kid Rock Axe Disappears


A one-of-a-kind Gibson electric guitar, made especially for Lava/Atlantic recording artist Kid Rock, is missing and presumed stolen. The guitar, a new Gibson SG model custom-painted in a “stars and stripes” motif, was discovered missing by customs inspectors overseas, where Kid Rock arrived this week on his way to an undisclosed location to perform for U.S. servicemen and women as part of an MTV/USO holiday television special.            The guitar was last seen at Kid Rock’s Michigan studio, where it was packed in a large case with a number of other guitars and then transported to… Read more »

P.O.D. Avoid Doing 'Dark, Dark Video' For 'Youth Of The Nation'


For P.O.D. this week, Youth of the Nation (the tour) had to take a backseat to “Youth of the Nation” (the song). Kid Rock Is Cocky, Calls Out 'Your Mama' With Snoop


Kid Rock has been spending some quality time with a certain “Double G” – and we’re not talking about girlfriend Pamela Anderson and her infamous assets. Cocky, the Bullgod’s next LP, features a duet with Snoop Dogg, according to an Atlantic Records spokesperson, while Kid Rock returns the favor with a guest shot on Snoop’s upcoming record, the laid-back West Coast rapper said. P.O.D. To Visit Youth Of The Nation On Tour


On the heels of their hit single “Alive,” which has served as an inspirational anthem in recent weeks, San Diego’s rap-rockers P.O.D. are hitting the road to support their second major-label album, Satellite. The headlining trek, titled the Youth of the Nation Tour after a song off the quartet’s new album, kicks off October 18 in Phoenix, Arizona, according to P.O.D.’s publicist. Modern Rockers Bush Contemplate Changing Lyric Due To Terror Attacks


Altering the title of Bush’s new single-“Speed Kills” to “The People That We Love”-might not be the only change Bush has to make on its forthcoming album Golden State. Another track on the October 16 release, “Head Full Of Ghosts,” contains the lyrics, “I’m at my best when I’m terrorist inside,” a line that Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale noted “is the worst line on the album in this time.” Bush’s Rossdale enacted his own preemptive strike for the song and its controversial line. Atlantic Records has announced that the eagerly awaited fourth album from Jewel, entitled This Way, will be released by the label on November 13th. This Way is Jewel’s first album since the 1999 release of Joy: A Holiday Collection, and marks her first album of all-new, self-penned material since 1998’s Spirit. Matchbox 20'S "Secret" Album


Tabitha’s Secret will become a matter of public record with the October 9th release of Don’t Play With Matches. Broken up since the summer of 1995, the band contained three current Matchbox Twenty members: singer/guitarist Rob Thomas, bassist Brian Yale and drummer Paul Doucette. Tabitha’s Secret formed in Orlando in 1993 with Thomas, Yale, Doucette and guitarists Jay Stanley and John Goff. Jagger To Release Fourth Solo Album In November


Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger will release his fourth solo album in November via Virgin Records, the label announced on its Web site.
