For fans of the Warped Tour, the winter months are usually seen as the off-season, a time to buff those Doc Martens or experiment with some Manic Panic variants. But starting in February, the young and spiky will have new reason to rejoice: the Taste of Chaos Tour. Warped founder Kevin Lyman is the mastermind behind the tour, and he’s confirmed both the lineup and the dates for the inaugural jaunt. As previously reported, the Used are locked in to headline, but the rest of the bill has been confirmed, and it’s a harder-edged lineup than Warped fans might be… Read more »

New Found Glory Call Tour With Green Day 'A Dream Come True'

On one hand, New Found Glory aren’t really learning anything while on tour with Green Day. “We know all the songs in their set,” guitarist Steve Klein said. “There aren’t many bands where I know every single song from every single CD.” But on the other hand, touring with three guys who are both your mentors and your favorite musicians does have its upside. “Green Day are a band that all of us look up to for what they’ve done and what they stand for,” drummer Cyrus Bolooki said. “They are like the pioneers of our kind of music.” New… Read more »

Britney Sexes Up the Music

If you can believe it, Britney Spears would like people to focus on her music, not her midriff. Nickelback Take The Road Less Traveled For Houston Tour Stop – Review

Regardless of their breakthrough success two years ago, Nickelback erred on the side of caution when they were preparing the first tour in support of their new album, The Long Road. Small Texas towns like Grand Prairie and Shiner were selected as the tour’s first testing grounds, and cool, fall evenings at medium-sized halls like Houston’s Verizon Wireless Theater (2,800 capacity) were chosen over summertime assaults at massive amphitheaters and arenas. But somewhere between planning the tour itinerary and building a show that incorporated singles such as “How You Remind Me,” “Too Bad” and their latest hit, “Someday,” someone in… Read more »

Summer Tour Affirms Metallica's Drawing Power

Making a case for hard music, stadium tours in general and Metallica’s own status as a headliner, Summer Sanitarium 2003 goes down as a winner, taking in $46.4 million and drawing 683,472 headbangers to 19 dates. The tour reaffirms the box-office clout of Metallica, which is currently in the planning stages of an extensive headlining tour next year, tentatively set to begin in March. Metallica last toured in 2000, taking in $40.5 million from only 20 shows. About a dozen of those concerts were Summer Sanitarium dates, featuring Kid Rock, Korn and others. This year’s Summer Sanitarium lineup featured Limp… Read more »
