Moog, Apple Computer Getting Grammys


Moog Synthesizer inventor Robert Moog and Apple Computer Inc. are getting technical Grammy Awards recognizing contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording industry. XM Satellite Radio Brings Music to NYC Marathon

Apple Cell Phone-Sized Player Holds 1,000 Songs


Apple Computer Inc. unveiled on Tuesday a portable music player that can hold an entire music collection and takes Apple outside its core computer business for the first time in eight years. Apple’s “iPod” is the size and shape of a deck of cards, with a small LCD screen and round dial on a white front and a stainless steel back. It holds about 1,000 songs in the MP3 music format and has a battery life of 8-10 hours. Pumpkins Unload Apples


The Smashing Pumpkins will release their upcoming greatest hits package, Rotten Apples, on November 20th. Along with the prerequisite never before seen band photos, the album features songs from all five of the Pumpkins’ studio releases, as well as the song “Drown,” which was featured on the soundtrack to the film Singles. “Real Love,” a previously unreleased track from the Internet only release Machina II: Friends and Enemies of Modern Music and “Untitled,” a new track, are also included on the hits disc. A new theatre project involving My Chemical Romance may be in the works, according to comments made by director/playwright/actor John Cameron Mitchell that are currently circulating online. Mitchell—best known for creating and starring in the cult rock musical Hedwig And The Angry Inch and directing its film adaptation—revealed during a recent appearance that he is quietly developing a theatrical project with the band.
