Evanescence Celebrate 20 Years of ‘Fallen’ At Madison Square Garden

Goth rock titans Evanescence are currently on the road, sweeping through North America and serving as support for Muse on their Will Of The People Tour. The band stopped at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Friday, March 17th, for a sold-out night of hard rock nostalgia and top-notch vocal prowess, celebrating their 2021 album, The Bitter Truth but also the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album, Fallen. Fans at MSG knew they were in for a treat. With Evanescence not touring all that frequently, the opportunity to see them in such an iconic arena drew a substantial… Read more »

The Parent Swap Pt. 2

Yeah, we get it — hating everything your parents love is a rite of passage growing up. But every once in a while, you have to admit when they’ve gotten it right.

Evanescence Splits With Guitarist, Drummer

And then there was one. With the recent departure of drummer Rocky Gray and guitarist John LeCompt, Amy Lee is now the only member of Evanescence left who has been in the band since the release of its smash 2003 breakout album, Fallen. LeCompt was either fired by the band or decided to move on – depending which account you believe – while Gray left of his own accord recently, making them the latest members of the group to fall by the wayside. Original guitarist/ co-founder Ben Moody left in 2003 , and bassist William Boyd quit last June after… Read more »

Simon Says Antonella's Time is Up; Melinda Aces it Again

We’re not even 20 seconds into the show, and Ryan Seacrest is already suggesting that we’re in for one helluva train wreck tonight. “We don’t havhe Paula! But we’ll find her, right?” This is “American Idol”? It’s the last round of semifinal performances, and nothing could be worse than Tuesday’s embarrassing men’s show . Well, I guess if they let Antonella sing for the entire episode I’d reconsider that statement. But with a group of girls this talented, even an off-night would be worth watching. And Paula’s top-of-the-show disappearing act certainly suggests that it may be chock full of potential… Read more »

Korn Goes Prog?

When Jonathan Davis refers to having the terrible twos behind him, it’s not a parenting reference. (His son, Pirate, will actually turn 2 in March.) “We always say that, musically, our 20s are the terrible twos,” the Korn singer explained. “When you are 20 you do the stupidest stuff to your body, you’re close-minded, you’re like a 2-year-old – just grown up and can drink. Once we hit 30, we started really playing the stuff that opened our minds up.” It’s with that open mind that the 36-year-old Davis was able to envision his metal band playing a 14-song acoustic… Read more »

Seether Frontman Shaun Morgan Is Very Angry

“Remedy,” the new single by South African neo-grunge band Seether, continues to climb the chart, which is a real thrill for a group that hasn’t released a new album in three years. Yet frontman Shaun Morgan has some issues on his mind that are making him kinda cranky. And even though he knows that whining when you’re shining can be a bad career move, he just can’t hold his tongue. “Our new album is the culmination of a lot of anger and fear of the music industry and the people that happen to have power over our careers,” Morgan said.… Read more »

Evanescence Eyeing Late-2005 Release for New Album

Los Angeles – Evanescence singer Amy Lee hopes to have a follow up to the goth-rock group’s two-year-old mega-hit “Fallen” in stores by the end of the year. “I knew it was going to take a while, and it is. We’re obviously taking longer than the average band,” she told Billboard recently. “Fallen,” released in March 2003, has sold 6 million copies in the United States alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Last February, the band won two Grammys, for best new artist and hard rock performance. In addition to writing individually, the members have done a little collaborating, Lee said.… Read more »

Evanescence's New Sound Is Reminiscent Of… Evanescence

Where Evanescence were once propelled solely by a pair of songwriters, the creative process has become a lot more democratic since the departure of guitarist Ben Moody. And yet Amy Lee continues to get the ball rolling the way she always has: behind closed doors. “I write by myself initially,” the band’s singer explained. “That’s the way I’ve always written, just working on pure thought by myself. Then I bring it to the table with whoever I’m collaborating with.” After Moody split in late 2003, he was replaced on tour by former Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo, who permanently joined the… Read more »
