Liquid Audio Rebukes Network Commerce


Liquid Audio confirmed yesterday that after reviewing the claims made against the company in a lawsuit recently filed by Network Commerce it believes the complaint has no merit and has accordingly filed a motion to dismiss the case. New Neil Young song inspired by doomed passengers


Rock legend Neil Young has written and recorded a song about the passengers who fought back against their Sept. 11 hijackers – a song described by one record company executive “as so chilling you feel like you are on that plane.” The song, a salute to heroism called “Let’s Roll,” was shipped to radio stations this week but will not be sold in stores, Young’s recording company Reprise Records said Wednesday. Court Dismisses Professor's Case Against RIAA


Free speech advocated are concerned that a pair of court decisions in New York and New Jersey could lay groundwork to deny U.S. citizens the same free speech rights on the Internet that they enjoy in the physical world. Both cases involve issues stemming from the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), a law designed to protect copyright holders by prohibiting the creation of technology that can be used to circumvent copyright protections. U2 To Elevate Super Bowl XXXVI Halftime Show


Halftime at this season’s Super Bowl will find one group of players 30 football minutes closer to becoming NFL champions and another on display before more eyes than ever before. Public Enemy will release a new album, which will feature four of the group’s past hits remixed by fans, in late February. This summer, through frontman Chuck D’s own SlamJamz.com, P.E. offered fans a chance to download a capella versions of “Shut Em Down,” “Public Enemy No. 1,” “B Side Wins Again,” and “By the Time I Get to Arizona,” and write new music for the tracks. ABC Radio Networks and Radio One, Inc. have partnered to form a history-making platform that creates the largest radio network reaching the African-American marketplace. The new partnership enables ABC Radio Networks’ Urban Advantage Network (UAN) to be available to more than 93 percent of African-American consumers.
