A tiny Brooklyn, New York, record label is redefining the age-old battle of the punks vs. the suits. Go-Kart Records founder Greg Ross has a problem with the RIAA’s use of lawsuits to fight online piracy, so he began giving away music for free on Friday. First he wrote an open letter to the recording industry trade group, lambasting its take on the problem of illegal downloading. Michael Jackson said Thursday he felt betrayed by a “terrible and unfair” TV documentary about his life, in which the King of Pop revealed he sometimes lets children sleep in his bed. Alien Ant Farm will take the stage Saturday for the first time since a bus accident in May left singer Dryden Mitchell with a broken back and injured the rest of his bandmates. The group will perform at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, California, as part of manufacturer Drum Workshop’s annual Drum Day L.A. benefit. Mitchell said the set won’t be a typical Alien Ant Farm show, since it’s really drummer Mike Cosgrove’s day in the spotlight, so they’ll likely jam and play songs that contain challenging time signatures. There’s a line in the CKY song “Escape From Hellview” that goes, “I’m on the loose with my neck in the noose/ But hey, I enjoy the intense.” So when they picked up cameras to shoot a video for the tune, they decided it would be cool to hang guitarist Chad Ginsburg from a tree. It almost became the last stunt Ginsburg would ever pull.
