VH1 has removed a Mariah Carey-mocking segment of its My Music Awards rebroadcast. According to the network, the editing decision was made because of re-airing time constraints, but the show’s producer and the segment’s writer cite pressure from Carey’s representatives as the reason. The awards show – which took place Sunday, December 2nd, at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium – included writer/comedian (and former Daily Show correspondent) Brian Unger’s “Music 2001: What The Hell Was That?” interludes, in which he lampooned Carey, as well as Michael Jackson, Marlon Brando, Wayne Newton and others. Bon Jovi are set to begin tracking their eighth album and follow-up to 2000’s comeback success, Crush. For the album, tentatively titled “Bounce,” the band will again call on their Crush cohort Luke Ebbin to co-produce (alongside singer Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora), in Los Angeles’ Henson (formerly A&M) Studios and at Sanctuary, Bon Jovi’s home studio in New Jersey. Slipknot have postponed their upcoming tour, which was scheduled to kick off on November 21st in Fargo, North Dakota, until next year. The twenty-four-city tour in support of the band’s latest album, Iowa, was also to feature 40 Below Summer. The postponement is due to percussionist Shawn Crahan’s (a.k.a. Number Six, a.k.a. the Clown) wife having just undergone surgery for Crohn’s disease. Her recuperation is expected to take six weeks, during which Crahan will remain in Iowa to care for her and their three young children.
