Former Beatle Paul McCartney won a last-minute court order yesterday (April 29) preventing the auction house Christie’s from selling his handwritten lyrics to the song “Hey Jude.” The sheet of note paper with the scrawled lyrics had been expected to fetch up to $116,000 at an auction scheduled for today, but McCartney took the matter to the High Court, claiming the piece had disappeared from his home. The lyrics will remain at Christie’s London headquarters until ownership is decided by agreement or a trial. Arista recording artist Butch Walker hits the road in advance of the release of his debut solo album later this spring, “LEFT OF SELF-CENTERED,” as he plays a series of solo warm-up dates in Chicago and his hometown Atlanta prior to heading out for a month of shows with Lit, it was announced today by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, President and CEO, Arista Records. Courtney Love will not be made to undergo a psychiatric examination at the insistence of former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, a judge ruled Wednesday. Grohl and Novoselic, who along with Love are partners in the business entity Nirvana LLC, filed a motion in the King County Superior Court in Seattle on April 11, asking that Love’s mental state be subject to an evaluation, as pursuant to a clause in the contract they each signed upon forming the company. Women rule the roost on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart, as females lord over the top three spots. First up is Ashanti, whose self-titled debut remains the #1 album in the country for the third straight week. She moved over 190,000 albums last week, according to SoundScan figures released Wednesday (April 24). Behind her is Sheryl Crow, whose C’mon, C’mon debuts at #2 with almost 185,000 copies sold. British pop trio BBMak have a six-string surprise in store for their fans, as their second album promises to be more of a guitar-driven affair. BBMak, known for being one of the few pop groups to play their own music and write their own songs, have spent the last two weeks putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to 2000’s Sooner or Later, according to a Hollywood Records spokesperson, who described the effort as being laced with guitar throughout. The Transplants, a punk supergroup composed of drummer Travis Barker of Blink-182 and singer-guitarist Tim Armstrong and bassist Matt Freeman of Rancid, will release their debut album in September on Hellcat Records. “I got a call from Tim and he said, ‘What’s up?
