Wakefield Are Dissed By Avril, Fake Feuding With Good Charlotte

On the opening track their debut album Wakefield cheekily declare “We’re in it for the money, all the groupie honeys/We wanted to be famous… we sold out.” Which leads one to ponder: are the guys admitting that they’ve sold their souls for rock ‘n roll, or is there more to the story? “We get so tired of hearing that we’ve sold out,” complains guitarist JD Tennyson. Lounging in the Gold Club at Toronto’s Kool Haus prior to a recent show, Tennyson takes exception to the term “sell-out.” “All of our favourite bands are being called sellouts,” he says. “Kids these… Read more »

The cut, “Let’s Get Loud,” features music by the Aerosmith members and rapping by Chuck, Busta Rhymes, MC Lyte and Fife. The ESPYs will air July 16 on ESPN. Hoobastank Set To Play Teacher Benefit In California

Hoobastank has committed to performing a benefit show on July 15 for an under-construction school in the band’s hometown of Calabasas, California. The Alice C. Stelle Middle School is not finished being built, and is experiencing financial problems due to the state of California’s budget crisis. The July 15 benefit show will take place at the Canyon in Agoura Hills, with funds to be used for staffing and educational materials so the school can open on time. Hoobastank guitarist Dan Estrin revealed that Howard Benson, who is producing the band’s next album, alerted the band to the school’s problem. “Howard… Read more »

Treble Charger Wanna Get Paid

The following message appears on the Treble Charger website: “Thanks to all you fans who support artists by buying music!” Their latest album, Detox, recently achieved Gold status in Canada – no small feat given the file-sharing climate of today’s music industry. “I think there’s a lot of people who justify it by saying that guys in bands are all rich and they don’t really care if people download their music,” hypothesizes Treble Charger drummer Trevor MacGregor. “Really, that’s not the case.” “Trevor and I both live in rat-bag apartments in Toronto,” agrees guitarist Bill Priddle. “I think there’s a… Read more »

Twisted Sister Cleans It Up for Kids

Their profanity-laced rock shows in the 1970s and ’80s drew the ire of the U.S. Senate, where Al and Tipper Gore accused them of endangering the morals of America’s youth and undermining parental authority. Two decades later, Twisted Sister is playing New Jersey’s two most family friendly venues – the Meadowlands State Fair, and Six Flags Great Adventure – and the “F” word is strictly off limits, by mutual agreement. Lead singer Dee Snider, who uses it dozens of times in a 90-minute concert, said the costumed, mascara-wearing band best known for hits like “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and… Read more »
