Blink-182 recently spent the night in jail. No, not as inmates. That was their teenage years (Tom DeLonge when he was 18, Travis Barker 15, to be specific). The older, more mature Blink-182 were only behind bars for the sake of work. Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong is turning to Charles Manson for salvation, and he’s bringing Kelly Osbourne and members of Blink-182, Green Day and AFI along for the ride. When he finishes this year’s Vans Warped Tour, Armstrong will put the finishing touches on the upcoming stop-motion animated film “Live Freaky! Die Freaky!” in which Manson surfaces in a post-apocalyptic wasteland to guide a group of survivors who are desperately searching for a spiritual leader. A former roadie for Blink-182 claims he’s the smart aleck who came up with the title Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, which the band used in 2001 for its fifth album. Larry Palm filed a lawsuit against the band on Thursday in Los Angeles Supreme Court for breach of oral and/or implied contract, promissory estoppel, fraud and unjust enrichment. According to the lawsuit, Palm claims that Mark Hoppus, Tom Delonge and Travis Barker asked him for a suggestion for a title. Blink-182 are continuing their fine tradition of potty humor album titles, following up 2001’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket with Use Your Erection I and II. Drummer Travis Barker revealed the Guns N’ Roses-inspired name at Saturday’s KROQ Weenie Roast, where he performed with the Transplants. He said the album is due October 28, although a spokesperson at the band’s label said it’s scheduled for November. Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. announced today that five additional major recording artists have agreed to provide music and video content for the upcoming rhythm-action game, Amplitude, developed exclusively for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. Expanding upon a top-tier music roster covering hip-hop, rap, electronica and rock, the newly signed bands include blink 182, P.O.D., Mekon, Freezepop and Dieselboy. Two of the bands most responsible for the commercial popularity of melodic punk rock in the 1990s have come together for the coast-to-coast Pop Disaster tour, which touched down Wednesday at the nearly sold-out Forum after two big outdoor shows the previous weekend in Irvine. Both groups approached the show with a workmanlike greatest-hits mentality that was just a tad disappointing.
