Drowning Pool's Williams Remembered As One Of Rock's Nicest


A day after the body of Drowning Pool frontman Dave Williams was discovered on the band’s tour bus, details remained scarce but memories of Williams as a fun-loving, kind-hearted character abounded. The 30-year-old singer was found in his bunk by members of Drowning Pool’s touring crew Wednesday afternoon, their publicist said. The band was in Manassas, Virginia, on its way to Thursday’s Ozzfest show in Bristow. An autopsy conducted Thursday morning proved inconclusive, according to a Prince William County police spokesperson. Drowning Pool Singer Found Dead


Dave Williams, lead singer of Drowning Pool, was found dead on the band’s tour bus Wednesday afternoon (August 14), according to a spokesperson for the group. He was 30 years old. A cause of death has yet to be determined. The Dallas quartet was on tour with Ozzfest when Williams’ body was discovered. Ozzfest had played the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, on Tuesday. Wednesday was an off day for the tour. Ashcroft Asked to Target Online Song Swappers


U.S. lawmakers have asked Attorney General John Ashcroft to go after Internet users who download unauthorized songs and other copyrighted material, raising the possibility of jail time for digital-music fans. In a July 25 letter released late Thursday, some 19 lawmakers from both sides of the aisle asked Ashcroft to prosecute “peer-to-peer” networks like Kazaa and Morpheus and the users who swap digital songs, video clips and other files without permission from artists or their record labels. Motley Crue Singer Wanted On Assault Charges


Police in Beverly Hills have issued a warrant for the arrest of Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil, who allegedly attacked a record producer in a nightclub parking lot. The warrant, issued Wednesday, stems from an April 28 incident involving Michael Schuman, who accuses Neil of taunting him outside of a club and then punching him numerous times in the face, knocking him to the ground. Neil faces misdemeanor battery charges, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said. On September 5, Times Square will be a bit more crowded than usual. Bon Jovi, Enrique Iglesias and others will play a concert in the crossroads of Manhattan to celebrate the kickoff of the NFL season and the spirit of the city, the league announced Tuesday (July 30). Producer Sues Over 'Osbournes' Idea


A producer has sued Ozzy Osbourne and the rock musician’s wife, claiming the couple stole the idea for their hit MTV reality series “The Osbournes” from him. Plaintiff Gary Binkow said he met on several occasions with the couple and executives from Miramax TV between 1999 and 2000 to discuss “a real-life docu-sitcom” about their family, according to the lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court. DJ Suspended for Kidnap Remark


A San Jose radio personality was suspended after joking about the kidnapping of a 7-year-old Philadelphia girl who escaped her kidnappers by chewing through duct tape. After a sidekick read the news item Wednesday about the girl, shock jock “Mikey” Esparza of KSJO-FM said, “That’s why I don’t use duct tape. That’s why I use nylon rope.” Esparza also suggested that kidnappers buy tarps and use lye to dispose of murder victims. The station suspended Esparza on Thursday for a week and broadcast a formal apology. His show, “The Mikey Show” is also heard in San Diego and Dallas.
