Eminem to Host '8 Mile' DVD Release Party


A party in honor of the DVD release of “8 Mile” wouldn’t be complete without an appearance from Eminem – and rap battling. On Thursday, Slim Shady himself will host the “8 Mile DVD Launch Party” at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. Hip-hop artists D12 and Xzibit, who appear in the film, are slated to perform. Sheep Head Breaks Music Fan's Skull


A flying sheep’s head hit a concertgoer and fractured his skull at a concert of metal band Mayhem. The band, part of Norway’s death metal music scene, was carving up a dead sheep as part of its stage act when the animal’s head flew off lead singer Maniac’s knife and struck Per Kristian Hagen, 25. The British Broadcasting Corp. on Friday said shots of George Michael’s backing musicians wearing anti-war T-shirts will likely be cut from a television show. Michael performed a cover of Don McLean’s anti-war song “The Grave” on BBC’s music show “Top of the Pops” on Thursday. Hollywood and Silicon Valley carried their battle over Internet piracy to Capitol Hill on Thursday, debating the need for technology to prevent the illegal trading of movies and television shows online. Dutch Firm Opens New Front in Music File-Swapping


A Dutch Internet company on Thursday said it had developed software that could be used to compensate musicians whose songs are swapped online, a move it said could cut out the embattled music industry. 'Eminem' Bank Robber Done In By His Unusual Fashion Sense


The suspect who was dubbed the “Eminem” bank robber by New Jersey police was arrested on Thursday (February 27) due in part to the unusual reversible jacket and wool hat that earned him his nickname. Michael R. Hasuga, 44, of Belleville, New Jersey, is believed to be the bank robber that federal agents and New Jersey authorities have been trying to apprehend for months, and the same suspect that was featured on the Newark FBI’s Most Wanted List. Turner Sells 5M AOL Time Warner Shares


Outgoing AOL Time Warner Inc. Vice Chairman Ted Turner sold more than 5 million additional shares of the company’s common stock on Monday, according to a regulatory filing. Turner sold 5 million shares directly and 32,000 shares through Turner Partners LP for $10.05 to $10.61 a share, said the Form 4 released Thursday by the Securities and Exchange Commission. 'Great White' to Testify About Club Fire


Members of the rock group Great White have been subpoenaed by prosecutors and said Tuesday they will appear before a grand jury investigating whether criminal charges should be filed in the nightclub inferno that killed 97 people.
