Five men arrested on suspicion of plotting to kidnap singer Victoria Beckham were charged Monday with theft and conspiring to rob Sotheby’s auction house, police said. Scotland Yard said inquiries were continuing into the alleged plan to kidnap Victoria Beckham, the Spice Girl wife of England soccer captain David Beckham, for a reported 5 million pound (US$7.75 million) ransom. Nine people were arrested after a Sunday newspaper said undercover reporters had discovered the kidnap plot. Houston rapper South Park Mexican received a 45-year prison sentence Thursday (May 30) for “sexually assaulting” a 9-year-old girl, a spokesperson for Harris County 351st Criminal District Court confirmed. On May 18, a jury convicted the 31-year-old man of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The artist, born Carlos Coy, faced a possible life sentence. The 22-year-old pop star watched his team, Nick Carter Racing, win the first race of this year’s American Power Boat Association Offshore Tour on Sunday.
