Don Henley's RIAA Alternative Gaining Steam


Maybe the Recording Industry Association of America had better watch its back. The Recording Artists Coalition – which counts founder Don Henley, Sheryl Crow, and Alanis Morissette among its members – is making strides toward becoming a formidable opponent. The RAC, which claims that the RIAA doesn’t always operate in the best interests of artists, has recently hired an executive director, laid out plans for offices in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., and folded another high-profile artists’ rights group under its wing. 'NSync Takes Home Three Blockbuster Entertainment Awards


‘NSync was the top musical act at the seventh annual Blockbuster Entertainment Awards Tuesday (April 10) night at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium, winning Favorite CD (No Strings Attached), Favorite Single (“Bye, Bye, Bye”), and Favorite Pop Group. The major music categories were mostly split, however, with a poodle-haired Christina Aguilera snagging Favorite Female Artist, Eminem taking Favorite Male Artist, and Destiny’s Child walking off with Favorite Group of the Year. Grammy Performer Lineup Continues To Grow


The Grammys have announced additional performers for the awards ceremony. Macy Gray, Sheryl Crow, Shelby Lynne, Moby, Jill Scott, the Blue Man Group and classical pianist Marc-AndrÈ Hamelin will also take the stage of Los Angeles’ Staples Center for the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards on February 21st. Following the example of Eminem and Elton, and Dolly Parton and Brad Paisley, Crow and Lynne will perform a duet. Crow received two Grammy nominations for duets from her Live From Central Park album.
