Watch My Chemical Romance Cover “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” By The Smashing Pumpkins

My Chemical Romance just made their stop at San Francisco’s Oracle Park, and it was a night to remember. Along with playing The Black Parade in full, the band pulled out fan faves such as “SING,” “Boy Division,” “It’s Not a Fashion Statement, It’s a Fucking Deathwish,” and more. However, My Chemical Romance also played a very special cover of “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” by The Smashing Pumpkins. Notably, brothers lead vocalist Gerard Way and bassist Mikey Way were deeply inspired by The Smashing Pumpkins and Billy Corgan, specifically when they saw the group on the 1996 Melon Collie and… Read more »

My Chemical Romance Is & Always Will Be Political… Deal With It

Uh oh… My Chemical Romance has entered the “online discourse,” and long-time fans are clashing with “casual” fans. My Chemical Romance has just kicked off their Long Live The Black Parade tour, and some ticket holders took to social media to describe their surprise and perhaps upset with the band for their political themes. At the Seattle date, Gerard Way held an “election” with the crowd who “voted” for hooded “candidates” in the center of the stadium. In classic MCR theatrical fashion, these hooded figures were “executed” and taken out in body bags. “Thank you so very much for participating… Read more »

12 New-Age Protest Songs To Listen To This 4th of July

For Americans across the nation, this July 4th might not feel like one worth celebrating. In Trump’s first six months in office, he’s sent the military on U.S. citizens in Los Angeles. ICE arrests have broken innocent families apart, and in most cases, those being deported have no criminal record (or are actual American citizens). Countless pieces of legislation were introduced or passed that take direct aim at the LGBTQ+ community. Federal workers were laid off en masse, the genocide in Palestine rages on, and this is merely scratching the surface. Refer back, even further, to 2023 when SCOTUS overturned… Read more »

Andy Black on How Sweeney Todd Shaped Him

In a recent idobi Warped Radio interview, Andy Biersack—aka Andy Black of Black Veil Brides—cracked open one of the earliest influences that shaped him—not just as an artist and performer, but as a kid already drawn to the theatrical and macabre. While he’s been vocal about his music inspirations such as Kiss and Mötley Crüe, this influence was Sweeney Todd. “Sweeney Todd was like the creepy thing, right? Like as a little kid, you look at it and I was scared of it, but I was also fascinated by it,” Black shares with idobi guest host Brandy-Baye Robidoux. “And they… Read more »
