Nickelback’s record label has released a statement explaining why it wouldn’t let Chad Kroeger appear on the new Santana single, even though he’s on Santana’s album. Kroeger wrote and sang on “Why Don’t You & I” for Santana’s Shaman, which appeared on Arista Records. But when it came time to release the song as a single, Roadrunner Records nixed Kroeger’s participation, and Santana-at Kroeger’s recommendation-replaced him with Alex Band from the group the Calling. A week after backing out of opening duties for Beck’s summer tour, Dashboard Confessional have lined up a sixteen-date headlining outing to launch August 30th in Pittsburgh. The band will be previewing its third studio album, A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar (due August 12th), along the way. Spoofing the pop star’s infamous baby-dangling incident that took place last November in Germany, Slim Shady actually tossed his “baby” up in the air on Tuesday in Glasgow, Scotland. No, it wasn’t his daughter, Hailie – this baby was a life-size blonde-haired baby doll, seemingly masked, which a surgical-mask-wearing Em held above the crowd, tossed up, and caught by its head. Of course, he was on a first-floor balcony at the Arthouse Hotel, so the doll was in no danger.
