Coldplay, Dido Go to Roswell


Previously unreleased material from Coldplay, Dido, the Doves and others is slated for the soundtrack to the teen sci-fi drama Roswell. Due out February 26th, the album will include Dido’s “Here With Me,” the show’s theme song, both in its original version and in a remix done by Dido’s brother, Rollo, of the dance outfit Faithless. The soundtrack also includes Coldplay’s “Brothers and Sisters” and Ash’s “Shining Light” (both previously unavailable in the U.S.), as well as Hybrid’s remix of Sarah McLachlan’s “Fear,” a remix of Ivy’s “Edge of the Ocean” and the Doves’ cover the Beatles “Blackbird,” which was… Read more »

Green Day, Shelby Do Isaak Show


While the 2001 season of Showtime’s Chris Isaak Show featured cameos by Stevie Nicks, Bret Michaels and Shawn Colvin, next year’s will see Green Day, Everclear’s Art Alexakis, Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins and Shelby Lynne trot on. Green Day filmed their episode, “The Wrong Number,” in Vancouver, British Columbia, several weeks ago. Dido may be out of the spotlight while working on her next album, but she will still be heard literally by millions thanks to a contribution to the new Britney Spears album, Britney, due in stores Tuesday (November 6). The London singer-songwriter co-penned the song, “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman,” with behind-the-scenes teen-pop kings Max Martin and Rami. Publishers Trounce Universal In License Fight


Music publishers on Wednesday won an important legal ruling against the world’s largest record label in a case that could set rules for streaming copyrighted songs over the Internet. New York federal Judge John S. Martin Jr. found that Universal Music Group’s Farmclub.com online music service streamed songs without obtaining licenses from music publishers. Did MTV Derail "Soul Train"?


Soul Train mastermind, Don Cornelius, has sent a letter to the Justice Department alleging that MTV is violating antitrust laws, according to the Los Angeles Times. Cornelius is accusing the music network of pressuring performers who appear on MTV shows not to perform on rival shows for a 30-day period.
