Before hitting the stage on Sunday, May 11, for their co-headlining concert as part of the 2003 Civic Tour, Florida natives New Found Glory awarded Sean Tyrka of Tampa, FL one of their customized and autographed Honda Civic Si’s that the band personally designed. As if a live CD of every show on their current tour weren’t enough, Pearl Jam have begun selling a live DVD of a December club gig at the Showbox Theater in Seattle. “Live at the Showbox” is available only on the band’s official Web site and at their concerts and features the full set from a December 6 warm-up for the band’s current world tour. Though it does not have any bonus features, the live disc differs from the group’s extras-laden “Touring Band 2000” DVD thanks to the intimate setting in the 1,000-plus capacity theater. The city and music industry have offered more than $60,000 in rewards for information on the slaying of rap legend Jam Master Jay. But nearly six months after his death, the identity of his killer and the motive behind the shooting remain a mystery. Arista recording artist Wakefield hit the road opening for All-American Rejects starting May 4th in Portland, Oregon. Seven weeks after heart bypass surgery, doctors cleared Lynyrd Skynyrd founding lead guitarist Gary Rossington to return to touring with the southern rock band starting in June. Rossington, 51, underwent the quintuple bypass surgery Feb. 25 at an Atlanta-area hospital. Band spokesman Lathum Nelson said Thursday in Los Angeles that the cardiologist gave Rossington the green light to return to stage June 13 in Karlsruhe, Germany. “Since his surgery, Gary has done well. Marching to a different beat for its eighth installment, MTV’s Campus Invasion tour will split into separate rock and hip-hop tours for the first time. Fabolous and Talib Kweli kick off the hip-hop-oriented stretch April 19 at Lincoln University in Philadelphia.
