The rock band Foo Fighters have canceled their European tour after drummer Taylor Hawkins was admitted to hospital, the group have said. A statement from the band on Tuesday said Hawkins was the victim of “overindulgence” at a weekend pop festival. Shows in Portugal, Edinburgh, London and Dublin have now been canceled. “Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was hospitalized yesterday morning after having apparently overindulged during festivities following the V2001 festival in Chelmsford, UK,” the statement said. “Hawkins is reported to be in a stable condition,” it said. Punk as an aid for getting in touch with one’s feelings has superseded the other modes evident at this year’s Warped Tour. As in their ordinary lives, these fans had too many options. Logistical issues and scheduling complications have postponed the London debut of the Tibetan Freedom Concert. Scheduled for September 15 at London’s Brockwell Park, the festival was to feature organizers the Beastie Boys, along with Joe Strummer, Pulp, Morcheeba and others. “We will take this time to continue our political work and to transfer the energy generated in the planning of the London event to an alternative event to be announced at a later date,” organizers said in a statement Friday. Poison have nixed the final twenty-two dates of their Glam Slam Metal Jam tour after bassist Bobby Dall underwent emergency surgery on his spine. The band was scheduled to play the Little River Rockfest in Minnedosa, Manitoba on August 5th, but instead Dall was rushed to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha due to back pain that initiated on stage. According to his surgeon, Dall underwent an anterior cervical diskectomy with allograft fusion, a procedure in which a disc is removed from the back to relieve pain. Ozzy Osbourne joined horror rocker Rob Zombie in a Los Angeles studio last week to work on “Iron Head,” a song to be included on Zombie’s upcoming album. Zombie’s sophomore solo release has been pushed back to October 30th, fittingly right before Halloween. In addition to Osbourne, the album will include guest appearances by Slayer guitarist Kerry King, former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, Limp Bizkit ‘s DJ Lethal and Beastie Boys compatriot Mix Master Mike.
