The Warped Tour, the annual traveling festival that targets the Vans-wearing, emo-loving youth of America, has recently announced the lineup  for their 2009 caravan. As usual (and because the event is celebrating its 15th anniversary), the lineup combines older acts like NOFX, Less Than Jake and Bad Religion with newer artists like 3OH!3 and Black Tide. The Jonas Brothers Taylor Swift and Lionel Richie will ring in 2009 from Times Square on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” They will perform live during the ABC broadcast, joining Clark in New York along with his co-host Ryan Seacrest the network announced. Kellie Pickler also will be on hand in Times Square with live reports on the festivities. Could the return of Phish spark a revitalization of the jam-band scene? After splitting in 2004 with a muddy sendoff at its Coventry, Vermont, festival, Phish will re-school in the spring for a three-night run at one of its favorite venues, the Hampton (Virginia) Coliseum. The prospect of the March 6-8 shows has been greeted with unbridled glee by loyal Phish-heads. The biggest metalcore band in the land happens to be a Christian sextet that, for a second time, is primed to crash into the upper echelons of the Billboard  200. Underoath will on Tuesday release its fourth album, “Lost in the Sound of Separation.” It’s the follow-up to 2006’s  “Define the Great Line,” which debuted at No. 2 without any significant radio play or mainstream push; it has sold 366,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Kings of Leon may be from  Tennessee, but the rock band’s music has resonated in a bigger way overseas than it has in its own backyard. The family foursome hopes that will change with its fourth album, “Only by the Night,” due September 23 via RCA. Kings of Leon’s previous records have sold a combined total of 620,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen  SoundScan, topped by second album “Aha Shake Heartbreak” in  2005 at 232,000. Irish-British alternative rock band My Bloody Valentine released its two full-length albums, “Isn’t Anything” and “Loveless,” digitally Tuesday (August 26). The sets previously had been only partially available online. The newly reunited MBV, which formed in Dublin in 1984, is dusting off the “Tremolo” EP, which is making its debut in the digital format, as well as four vintage short-form videos for the songs “Only Shallow,” “Soon,” “Swallow” and “To Here Knows When.” In June, “Isn’t Anything” and “Loveless” were remastered and reissued on CD in the United Kingdom. The four-day festival of music, art, movies and comedy kicks off on Thursday in Manchester, Tenn., and promises a musical experience designed to please, well, almost everyone who likes music, laughter and $7 showers. Hail to the Thief suddenly has all kinds of new meaning. Radiohead has a burgeoning beef with Prince over the Purple One’s refusal to allow fan video recordings of his cover of the alt-rockers’ seminal 1992 hit, “Creep,” to be shown on YouTube. Radiohead’s frontman Thom Yorke tells the Associated Press that he has no problems with Prince’s label, NPG Records, taking down clips of the artist performing his own tunes because of copyright concerns. The album that will put the new EMI under its greatest global scrutiny to date is also 2008’s most eagerly awaited release. That’s the official word from Coldplay’s new boss. The band’s “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends” will be released June 12 internationally on Parlophone/EMI and on June 17 in North America on Capitol.
