Jackson's Album 'Invincible' Tops U.S. Sales Charts


It’s official. Michael Jackson, the self-proclaimed “King of Pop,” is the “King of Sales” this week, but music industry insiders predict he will soon lose the crown to pop teen queen Britney Spears. Jackson’s first album of original music in six years, “Invincible,” sold 366,272 units in the week ended Nov. 4, the first week of its release, topping all other U.S. albums, according to Soundscan, which tracks music retail figures. Dido Pens Song For Britney


Dido may be out of the spotlight while working on her next album, but she will still be heard literally by millions thanks to a contribution to the new Britney Spears album, Britney, due in stores Tuesday (November 6). The London singer-songwriter co-penned the song, “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman,” with behind-the-scenes teen-pop kings Max Martin and Rami. Others contributing to Britney include *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake, while Spears herself also co-wrote songs on the album. Jay-Z Sued For Copyright Infringement By 'Izzo' Singer


A copyright lawsuit was filed Wednesday (October 31) in Manhattan’s Southern District Court against rapper Jay-Z and his various label affiliations by a woman claiming she wasn’t paid for her contribution to Jigga’s hit single “Izzo (H.O.V.A.).” Demme Ulloa asserts that it’s her singing “H to the Izzo/ V to the Izzay,” the melodic hook used in the chorus of the track, though she never signed a contract and thus far hasn’t seen a penny for her efforts, according to her lawyers. Ozzy Gets Down To Earth With Fans


Hundreds of Ozzy Osbourne fans lined up to pose with the heavy-metal pioneer Tuesday night in Hollywood at the first of five in-store appearances around the country to promote his new album, Down to Earth. “I am doing this for them,” Osbourne said, pointing to screaming fans as he strolled down the red carpet outside Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard. “They’re loyal.
