Sheryl Crow looks to make it an endless summer with a string of headlining dates that will carry her into October. The shows are her first solo outings to promote her latest platinum album, C’mon, C’mon. They will follow five weeks of dates on the Jeep World Outside Festival with Train, Ziggy Marley and O.A.R., which wrap on August 17. The tiny, unassuming city of Devore, California, will be transformed into a punk-rock Mecca next month when it hosts a show featuring the Sex Pistols, X, Bad Religion, the Vandals, Unwritten Law, New Found Glory and others. The September 14 KROQ Inland Invasion concert at the 65,000-seat Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion will also feature the Damned, the Adolescents, the Distillers, T.S.O.L. and G.B.H, according to a source close to the show. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will step behind the camera to direct the first video from the band’s new album. The clip for “All My Life” is scheduled to be filmed in Los Angeles the week of August 12, according to the band’s publicist. The song has been tapped as the first single from the Foo Fighters’ fourth album, 1 X 1 (“One By One”), due October 22. Music fans weren’t quite ready to vacate “Nellyville” this week, as the sophomore album from St. Louis rapper Nelly stood strong against a heady debut from funk-punk foursome the Red Hot Chili Peppers and held on to the top spot for the third week running. Nelly, Moby, Queens of the Stone Age and N.E.R.D. are among the artists featured on the upcoming soundtrack to the new Vin Diesel flick XXX. The film is due in theaters August 6th, with the soundtrack hitting stores on the 9th. The album is a double-disc set, one rock album and one hip-hop album, each featuring ten tracks. Drummer Joey Jordison of the hard rock band Slipknot, is planning to release a side project this summer. Slipknot is composed of nine Des Moines-area natives known for grotesque masks and extreme metal music. The band they started in an Urbandale basement in the mid-1990s has captured two Grammy nominations and sold millions of compact discs around the world. Jordison has teamed up with Tripp Eisen of Static-X to form Murderdolls. They’ll release their debut album, “Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls,” on Aug. 20.
