Slow ticket sales and increased production costs led promoters to cancel the Lollapalooza rock festival scheduled this month for Vernon Downs racetrack in central New York. A man has been charged with demanding $25,000 from rapper Lil’ Kim to return a necklace that went missing from her luggage at the airport. John Acheson of New Rochelle was charged with attempted grand larceny, attempted grand larceny by extortion and attempted coercion, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement Monday. The 31-year-old was being held Monday pending arraignment, the DA said, and was unavailable for comment. Rapper Lil’ Kim got her bling-bling back. An estimated $250,000 worth of jewelry belonging to the hip-hop performer and producer was recovered Friday at Kennedy International Airport, where it had disappeared one week earlier. The missing jewelry, including her signature diamond-encrusted “Queen Bee” necklace, was found wrapped inside a rag by a United Airlines worker in a locker room for airline employees, her attorney Mel Sachs said Saturday.
