Elektra has set a May 7 release date for the “Family Values Tour 2001” live album, the third such release to document the rock-oriented trek. The set sports a variety of tracks from last year’s tour participants Stone Temple Pilots, Linkin Park, Staind, Static-X, and Deadsy. STP’s “Wonderful” will serve as the first single and will be sent next week to U.S. radio outlets for airplay consideration. Limp Bizkit lead singer Fred Durst has offered to testify through a video link at the inquest into a young fan’s death at a concert, but said he’s too busy to attend in person, a coroner was told Monday. Glebe Coroner’s Court is examining the death of 15-year-old Jessica Michalik, who suffered a heart attack during a crowd crush at the January 2001 Big Day Out concert in Sydney. Thanks to the success of its single, “Blurry,” Puddle Of Mudd continues to gain ground on the Billboard 200 album sales chart with its debut album Come Clean, which now can be found at Number 13 thanks to more than 54,000 copies sold, according to sources. The positioning is the best for the album aside from its debut at Number 10 in September. Staind singer Aaron Lewis will be heard on a new version of the Linkin Park single “Crawling” on the Southern California rap-rock band’s upcoming remix album. Lewis recorded harmonies for the song in Linkin Park’s bus on the Family Values Tour last fall, Linkin Park DJ Joseph Hahn said Thursday. Hahn described the track, remixed by vocalist Mike Shinoda, as spacey and twice as long as the three-minute original. Marilyn Manson, Disturbed’s David Draiman, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, Static-X’s Wayne Static, and Orgy’s Jay Gordon have been drafted to sing five tracks co-written by Korn’s Jonathan Davis and multi-instrumentalist Richard Gibbs for the upcoming “Queen of the Damned” soundtrack. The Neptunes, the hit-making songwriting and producing duo comprising Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, on Tuesday said they formed a joint venture label with Arista Records to be called Star Trak Entertainment. The Neptunes, and manager Robert Walker, have signed an exclusive deal that calls for the duo to produce artists signed to Star Trak Entertainment as well as Arista Records and its other labels, and develop new repertoire.
