Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor is suing former manager John Malm and former business manager/accountant Richard Szekelyi for millions of dollars. According to Interscope Records, Reznor filed suit in U.S. District Court Southern District of New York, charging his former associates with fraud and breach of fiduciary duties. The industrial rocker claims Malm and Szekelyi’s Ohio-based company, J. Artist Management, engaged in unlawful and immoral conduct for years, cheating Reznor out of money that rightfully should have gone to him. Verizon Wireless is taking tour sponsorship into the digital world in partnership with rock band Puddle of Mudd. The idea is to entice the band’s fans to use new technology through a package of competitions, promotions and advertising, all leading up to the Nov. 25 release of its sophomore album, “Life on Display.” The band’s 2001 Interscope Records debut, “Come Clean,” has sold more than 5 million copies and won four Billboard Music Awards. 50 Cent and his record label have been sued for $21 million by a New York Post photographer who claims the rapper’s bodyguards attacked him. James Alcorn alleges in a lawsuit filed in state Supreme Court that he was “assaulted and battered” by seven bodyguards Aug. 27 while photographing 50 Cent, who was shopping in the diamond district. With the 27-year-old rapper looking on, the unidentified men allegedly slammed Alcorn down on the sidewalk, then loomed over him as he snapped a photo of them. The music industry is hoping that the availability of child pornography on peer-to-peer networks such as Kazaa will help put file sharing out of business.
