Good Charlotte Think "Rock Critic" Bands Don't Affect Pop Culture

Good Charlotte know they aren’t the world’s most critically acclaimed band. So instead of trying to appeal to an audience bent on hating them, they’ve fully embraced their pop leanings on their new album, Good Morning Revival. The record finds the band in a much more comfortable place than 2004’s The Chronicles Of Life And Death, and they even seem to accept why so many people hate them. “I remember one of the first reviews I ever read about our band when we first came out, they were like, ‘They’re a manufactured band and they’ll be gone tomorrow,’” guitarist Benji… Read more »

Good Charlotte Discuss 'Beat Driven' Direction

Good Charlotte have been discussing their new album Good Morning Revival, saying that musically it’s a change in direction for them, it’s more “beat driven”, and less guitar based. Talking to MTV Europe, Benji Madden says the band have been inspired by all doom and gloom around them for their second album. “We look around and everything is dark, dark, dark, theatrical death.” This emo outlook fellow bands have been peddling has inspired the band to go upbeat in their music, “I mean, we did it with Chronicles of Life and Death two years ago” Benji continued. “We just see… Read more »

Foo Fighters, Good Charlotte Usher In Summer Concert Season

Baltimore – If you find yourself surrounded by 40,000 fans, 40 bands, three stages and 85 degrees, you’ve apparently waded chest-deep into the summer concert season. For years, folks east of the Mississippi have welcomed the start of that season at the HFStival, now staged in Baltimore after thriving for 15 years as a Washington, D.C., staple. Quite a bit’s changed since WHFS-FM started ushering in the arrival of summer – most notably the station itself, which disappeared from the dial earlier this year. It has since resurfaced as an online entity and also takes over Baltimore’s Live 105.7 on… Read more »

Good Charlotte takes off hamburger suits

Good Charlotte is ditching the vegetable costumes and getting serious in the clip for its new single, “We Believe.” In the video — shooting Friday at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre — the band takes the stage in an abandoned playhouse and performs the song while images of war and human suffering play on a movie screen behind it. It’s a far cry from the Fruit of the Loom antics Good Charlotte deployed for their last clip, but as director Sam Erickson explains, it was important to the band that the video stay loyal to the song’s serious themes. “We worked… Read more »
