Super producer and starmaker Jermaine Dupri will donate $10,000 to launch Hip-Hop for Humanity – a relief effort which is unifying the hip-hop community to provide financial support for the victim’s of the September 11th tragedies. It seems South Africa Day’s concert at Trafalgar Square, right under Nelson’s Column in London may be a little bigger than expected this year. According to the London Sun, playing at the gig will be rock and roll juggernauts REM along with The Corrs, Pop stars Atomic Kitten, and traditional South African muso’s Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Singer Michael Stipe says R.E.M.’s next album takes the Georgia band’s sound into deep space. “If the last one was like Mars, this one is like Neptune,” he said last week at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
