This week my guest is Bert McCracken, singer of The Used! When you think of The Used you don’t think of a singer who grew up Mormon in Salt Lake City. He did and we dive right into that. We also talk about the early days of The Used and how he was able to get his demo in the hands of Goldfinger’s John Feldman who would help get them signed and also go onto produce the early stuff for The Used.

Bands covering other bands! Emo act Ben Quad has covered their label and tourmates Arm’s Length’s song, “In Loving Memory,” via Wax Bodega. The act repurposes the original song into a faster rendition, with a concoction of modern pop-punk that’s infused with original emo riffs. Arm’s Length says “I Don’t Love You,” with their cover of the My Chemical Romance single. The Canadian emo outfit recently dropped this single ahead of their upcoming spring tour. While we don’t have MCR5 in our peripheral vision anytime soon, at least this raw, gut-wrenching cover satiates fans with its twisting, heartbreaking vocals that are so rarely captured when doing a rendition of a song.
