Sex PistolsThe Sex Pistols have pulled the plug on a planned gig for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in London in June, according to Reuters. “They simply did not want to play that weekend and it will not go ahead,” said John Giddings, managing director of London-based music promotions company Solo, which is organizing the event, as quoted by Reuters. Jimmy Eat World, Lil’ Romeo, and Adema were among the seven artists who received their first gold records from the Recording Industry Association of America in March. While living legends Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton earned their 21st gold certifications this month, younger acts, including Staind, Linkin Park, and Nelly Furtado, picked up their first platinum and multi-platinum albums, according to the RIAA’s June certifications list. McCartney’s latest gold (for 500,000 copies sold) record, as well as platinum (for 1 million sold) and double platinum, is for his Wings retrospective, Wingspan: Hits and History.
