The fourth track on Megadeth’s 2001 album, The World Needs a Hero, is “1000 Times Goodbye.” Written as a breakup song, its title is more meaningful now that after nine studio albums and nearly 20 years, Megadeth have bid the world farewell. Frontman Dave Mustaine made the announcement Wednesday (April 3) in a written statement. “For the time being, I have decided to exit Megadeth and explore other areas of the music business,” he said. More than two months before the album is officially released, listeners got a feel for the new Korn album Untouchable on Tuesday (April 2), thanks to syndicated radio personalities Opie and Anthony. The shock jocks, whose four-hour afternoon radio show is syndicated in 18 cities nationwide from New York station WNEW, played four songs from Korn’s fifth album, due June 11, at approximately 3:30 ET. April fools were on the loose at the kick-off date of the Sum Like It Hot Tour Monday night at the Electric Factory. At the head of the parade was Deryck Whibley, who led his band, Sum41, in an hour’s worth of snotty punk rock, heavy metal reverence and irreverent shtick. Marilyn Manson have set The Golden Age of Grotesque as the title for their forthcoming album, the band’s namesake singer announced Thursday (March 21). Although the group is still recording, Manson described the album on his official Web site as a “genius deluge of hardcore guitar-drum violence” and “reckless electronic-punk vaudeville mixed with ’30s cabaret decadence.” Producers Tim Skold (KMFDM) and Ben Gross (Filter) are working with the group on The Golden Age of Grotesque, for which Manson said several songs are finished, including one called “Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth.” Manson described the album last fall as… Read more »
