The USO will send rock band New Found Glory to meet with service members at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii Aug. 14. On their first USO tour, band members will visit with troops, sign autographs and tour the base. A Florida-based rock band, New Found Glory launched their musical career in 1997. Drexel Starts Student-Run Record Label


Sony, Universal and Warner Bros. have nothing to worry about, but a university known more for churning out engineers than hit music is starting its own record label. Drexel University’s MAD Dragon Records expects to put out its first CD – a compilation of eight or nine bands – next year. The student-run label will be an integral part of Drexel’s fledgling music industry program, which in only three years has grown from eight students to more than 150. Manson's Six Flags Mis-Adventure


The amusement park has banned controversial rocker Marilyn Manson from performing at Six Flags Darien Lake on August 11 when the 2003 Ozzfest tour rolls into town, claiming his act is inappropriate for the venue. Deftones Cancel Tour Dates: Chino Moreno Suffers Groin Injury


Deftones lead singer Chino Moreno has suffered what doctors are calling a “severe groin injury,” necessitating the cancellation of two of the band’s headlining off-dates on the current Summer Sanitarium tour with Metallica, Linkin Park and others. The canceled concerts are Tuesday, August 5th at the Salt Air Pavilion in Salt Lake City, Utah and Wednesday, August 6th at the Big Easy in Boise, Idaho. Lynyrd Skynyrd Cancels Rest Of Tour With Sammy Hagar


The Lynyrd Skynyrd/Sammy Hagar “Party Of A Lifetime” tour has come to an end, as Skynyrd has pulled out of the remaining dates due to guitarist Gary Rossington’s health. Rossington had open-heart surgery in February and was cleared to tour in support of their new album Vicious Cycle.
