Napster Blocks 1.3 Million File Names; RIAA To Reply


File-swapping company Napster has filed its second compliance report with a federal court and claims to have filtered out more than 1.3 million file names of copyrighted songs. But the Recording Industry Association of America maintains that Napster is falling short of its responsibilities and plans to file a reply to Napster’s report with the federal court Tuesday, a spokeswoman said. In the compliance report, which Napster filed this week, the company said it has filtered out 228,569 artist-song title pairs from its system and more than 1.3 million file names. Spears' Pepsi Ad To Get Online Unveiling


A commercial titled “Performance,” the first fruit of Britney Spears’ global marketing pact with Pepsi, will debut online via Yahoo! Sunday (March 25), at 6 p.m. ET, two hours before its broadcast premiere during the Academy Awards on ABC. Set in a Pepsi bottling plant, the clip features Spears singing the now familiar “Joy Of Pepsi” jingle, as well as a cameo by former senator Bob Dole. 'N Sync Look To Neptunes For New LP


‘N Sync have enlisted the galaxy’s hottest producers, the Neptunes, for their follow-up to No Strings Attached, tentatively set for a June release. Irish Govt Steps In After Row Over U2 Concert


The Irish government moved on Tuesday to fast-track new regulations on the licensing of outdoor rock concerts after tickets for a gig by Irish band U2 sold out in record time, to the anger of disappointed fans. Tickets for the concert, to be held outside Dublin on August 25, were snapped up in 45 minutes at the weekend resulting in furious scenes and a police presence as thwarted fans, many of whom had queued overnight, refused to disperse. Red Hot Chili Peppers To Play Two Charity Shows


The Red Hot Chili Peppers are in a charitable mood, as the band has agreed to perform at a pair of benefit shows next month – one in Los Angeles, the other in New York. The Chili Peppers will join Neil Young and Crazy Horse and Thelonious Monster for a March 1 concert at the Hollywood Palladium to raise money for an ailing substance abuse counselor. Britney Spears Signs Pact With Pepsi-Cola


Britney Spears is set to graduate to the big time. Like Michael Jackson and Ray Charles before her, the teen pop queen has signed a reported multi-million dollar deal with Pepsi-Cola, according to Reuters.
