Canadian rock outfit Hot Hot Heat will return in the fall with its next album, “Happiness LTD.” Due Sept. 11 via Sire, the project was co-produced by the band with Butch Walker, Tim Palmer and Rob Cavallo. Tracks include “Outta Heart,” which frontman Steve Bays calls “the most non-Hot Hot Heat song we’ve ever done,” and “Harmonicas & Tambourines,” which features four drum kits playing at once. “It covers the journey from bliss to misery and the attempt to get back to bliss, while acknowledging how exciting the ride can be in between,” Bays adds of the album. “Happiness LTD.”… Read more »
INDIO, California – Perhaps it was a sign that the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire and Hot Chip were sharing the same bill. Whatever the case, Saturday was certainly one of the most scorching Coachella afternoons ever, with temperatures into the100s for hours on end. That meant the tented stages provided plenty of shadowy solace, while pre-sunset outdoor acts were playing to their diehards and suffering while doing it. Oasis, the Killers, and Kaiser Chiefs are to cover songs from the Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band to mark the 40th anniversary of the classic album’s release. The original album was released on June 1, 1967, and to mark the event the big names will all be covering tracks from the record for a BBC2 special to be aired in the U.K. on June 2. Razorlight, James Morrison, the Fratellis, and Travis are among the other acts taking part.
