Nickelodeon Forming Label With Jive Records


Children’s television network Nickelodeon is partnering with Jive Records – home of teen pop sensations ‘N Sync, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears – to create Nick Records. “Music plays a vibrant part in the lives of our audience,” said Albie Hecht, president of Nickelodeon’s film and entertainment departments. “We are excited to launch a record label that will once again put Nickelodeon in the leadership position in entertainment for kids and tweens.” Cross-promotion will be a key theme for Nick Records; one of its artists, Nick Cannon, will star in his own series for the Nickelodeon network this fall, and… Read more »

Aaron Carter Gets It Again


Aaron Carter, brother to Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and the “Little Prince of Pop” (as dubbed by his mom), is set to release his follow-up to Aaron’s Party (Come Get It). Aimster Legal Woes Grow


File-sharing network Aimster has been slapped with two new copyright infringement suits – one on each coast – even as it continues its battle with the record industry. Six major film studios – Disney, MGM, Paramount, Sony, 20th Century Fox and Universal – filed suit against the upstate New York-based Netco in District Court for the central district of California. A separate complaint, filed in Manhattan District Court by Time Warner, is pending. In its complaint, the studios alleged that the Netco seeks “to supplant Napster as the preferred forum for the illegal copying and distribution of copyrighted works.” The… Read more »

Aaron Carter's Oh Aaron In Stores August 7


On August 7 Jive Records will release Oh Aaron, the follow up album to Aaron Carter’s multiplatinum Aaron’s Party (Come Get It). This thirteen year old pop phenomenon’s Jive debut, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. “Oh Aaron,” the first single from the album of the same name, features a video directed by Andrew MacNaughtan. New VP Of Marketing At J Records


J Records today announced the appointment of former Good Morning America entertainment producer Scott Seviour as Vice President, Marketing, joining the department headed by Tom Corson. Incubus Wrap Recording


Incubus have broken camp after completing the sessions for their forthcoming release and are hitting the road. They’ll play a month of dates across Europe before joining Moby’s Area: One tour on July 11th in Atlanta. Though album and song titles are still being considered, Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger mentions “Morning View” as a possible album title. It’s the name of the street where they recorded the album – in a Malibu Hills mansion.
