Almost a week late, Britney Spears finally kicked off her Britney 2001 Tour Thursday night after the flu and a kink in her pre-production held her up. Obviously the fans who flooded the Nationwide Arena expected the concert to be all about Britney – the person, that is. And sure, she explored some personal issues/interests, appearing with a bald head at one point, bungee jumping and fighting off faceless nemeses during her performance, but the singer kept true to her promise to make a large portion of the show about Britney, the album. She previewed several cuts off of her… Read more »
Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez plans to marry choreographer Cris Judd on Saturday, just seven months after she publicly split from rap impresario Sean “Puffy” Combs, according to New York tabloid reports Friday. Lopez’s spokesman, Alan Nierob, declined comment on the reports. The Bronx-born Latina bombshell and her fiancee went public as a couple at the Academy Awards in March. They plan to be married in Los Angeles, reports in the New York Post and Daily News said. It would be the first trip to the alter for Judd and the second for Lopez, whose previous one-year marriage to male model Ojani… Read more »
Word spreads by flyer and e-mail, drawing a small but dedicated corps of young hipsters to a nondescript club on a sleepy, dimly lit street corner. They are in search of deejays spinning a sound so new that some have crossed state lines for their first chance to dance to it. That sound is UK Garage, or Two-step, a dance genre from London’s underground club scene that has crossed the Atlantic – and not just to such likely haunts as New York and San Francisco. It’s also growing in popularity from Washington to Dallas and, in this case, Minneapolis, where… Read more »
Capital Radio is moving one of its main broadcast programmes onto the internet as part of its partnership with MSN.co.uk, taking its Dancemasters programme and rolling it out onto its own online channel. Already operating R&B, women’s and gamers’ radio channels on MSN, the new channel will bring the dance market into its fully programmed internet broadcasting service. The deal with MSN.co.uk, announced earlier this month, gave Capital’s troubled internet division the chance to fully implement internet station plans, having seen its revenues severely hit by the dotcom economic downturn. Rather than launching niche channels itself, the broadcaster and the… Read more »

A few months ago, we brought you The Catching’s new single “Nothing Good About Goodbye”. Today, we’re topping that with the premiere of their full EP. The collection won’t be released until Friday, but you can hear it four days early below! “We are very excited to release this EP which has been in the making for over a year. We have grown as a band and as people with these songs by our side and now it’s their time to be put out into the universe. I remember singing the oohs for “Seventeen” for the first time on my couch… Read more »
Given Fall Out Boy’s penchant for publicity stunts (see this year’s nixed attempt to set a Guinness World Record by playing in Antarctica, followed by successfully setting the record for Most Interviews On Radio In a 24 Hour Period By A Pair of Two after talking to 72 radio stations), it should come as no surprise that the band celebrated yesterday’s release of Folie à Deux with a 36-hour New York promotional blitz that involved a nearly free show, performing on late-night TV and almost getting arrested. Over the weekend, Pete Wentz posted cryptic teasers on his blog for two… Read more »
After an unfortunate series of events, lead singer of SeeYouSpaceCowboy Connie Sgarbossa, shared on Twitter/X that her tenure in the band may be reaching its end. In a January 15 social media post, she said, “Probably gonna be leaving SYSC due to a lack of urgency on issues I have been bringing up for a while now. It was fun while it lasted.” This is likely in response to the January 14 Dance Gavin Dance tour announcement where The Home Team, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, and Dwellings were listed as support. Fans of both SeeYouSpaceCowboy and The Home Team took to social media… Read more »
