Pink Rocks Harder on New CD

After toughening up her sound on 2002’s multi-million-copy-selling Missundaztood, Pink will continue to move further from R&B and closer to rock & roll on her third album, Try This, due November 11th. The first single, “Trouble,” will likely make its way to radio next month, and Pink has already shot a video for the song. Missundaztood found Pink collaborating extensively with former 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry, who has returned to co-write tracks for Try This. Also aboard is Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong, who co-wrote several of the album’s thirteen songs. However, Try This won’t completely forsake Pink’s past.… Read more »

Creed Concert Lawsuit Dismissed

A Chicago judge has dismissed a class-action lawsuit against the band Creed, filed by four fans who attended the Orlando-based band’s concert in Chicago on December 29, 2002, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Jeff Hanson Management & Promotions, Inc., and concert promoter USA Interactive were also named as defendants. The suit, filed April 20 in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, claimed that lead singer Scott Stapp “was so intoxicated and/or medicated that he was unable to sing the lyrics of a single Creed song.” The four plaintiffs were seeking a refund of their $55.50 ticket price and their… Read more »

Britney Romps On Bed, Loses Her Shirt At Surprise Vegas Show

Britney Spears previewed another new song this weekend, but instead of broadcasting it to a live audience, she debuted it to a Las Vegas crowd in a surprise – and steamy – performance. Spears took the stage at Rain, a nightclub within the Palms hotel-casino, at 1 a.m. Sunday morning. About 1,800 people were in attendance, but they weren’t expecting nor were they charged for a show from Spears – they were just there to dance. The DJ music stopped, Rain co-owner Scott DeGraff told MTV News, and people were bewildered as a group of five or six dancers took… Read more »

Britney Talks New Album But Remains Coy On First Single

Britney Spears debuted the first full song off her upcoming record Thursday on ABC’s “NFL Kickoff Live,” but despite the primetime unveiling, “Me Against the Music” isn’t necessarily going to be the new disc’s first single. Wearing a cropped referee’s shirt, Spears performed a medley of “… Baby One More Time” and “I’m a Slave 4 U” after finishing the RedZone-produced dance tune, which features a near rap and tribal rhythms. “Dance all night,” she exhorts on the song, demanding that “All the people in the crowd, grab a partner, take it down/ All my people in the crowd, let… Read more »

Missy Elliott Wins MTV Video of the Year

There were no big winners at the MTV Video Music Awards – Missy Elliott’s “Work It” won two awards, including video of the year, while Justin Timberlake, Coldplay and Beyonce had three apiece. The 71-year-old Johnny Cash, nominated seven times for “Hurt,” won once. As usual, the most memorable moments had nothing to do with the moonmen trophies. Twenty years after the first MTV Video Music Awards, not much has changed – Madonna still makes jaws drop and cheeks blush. Just like her first time, the superstar upstaged everyone at the 20th annual MTV Video Music Awards, only she had… Read more »

MTV's Red Carpet Attracts Many Styles

From jeans to suits, the red carpet at the 20th Annual MTV Video Music Awards was a fashionista’s dream – or nightmare. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons showed up Thursday night in a pink suit, as did Dre of Outkast. Rapper 50 Cent wore a gray suit accessorized with a diamond necklace – and actress Vivica A. Fox, in a flesh-baring short gray dress. They were the subtle ones. Christina Aguilera’s dress was covered with pink feathers, while Mya wore short, tight black patent leather and lace. Singer Tweet had on black and white over-the-knee leather boots and a dress made… Read more »

Ataris Releasing Their 'Saddest Song' When 'Summer' Is Over

While their cover of Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer” may be poised to stay strong at rock radio well through the end of summer, the Ataris are looking forward to the fall. That’s when they’ll release their next single, “The Saddest Song.” Frontman Kris Roe wrote the piano-driven number about his relationship with his estranged daughter and his experience growing up without a father around. “I hope I get the chance to make it up to you/ We got a lot of catching up to do,” he sings. “We started playing that song live two years ago and kids… Read more »
