The first rule when you’re about to drop $75 to $150 on a concert ticket should be “Do your research.” Anyone who expected a straightforward greatest-hits retrospective from Prince at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall Tuesday night will have to write their pricey ticket off as a fine for laziness. Riddlin’ Kids, the ferociously melodic powerpunk band from Austin, Texas, are preparing to start touring in earnest in anticipation of the June 4 release of Hurry Up And Wait, their album debut on Aware/Columbia Records. They will be part of the Warped Tour starting mid-July; preceding the Warped dates, the group will tour with Mest and Dynamite Boys beginning in early April. Will Smith may not have come up a winner at the Academy Awards, but the actor/rapper can revel in a victory elsewhere in Hollywood. He and his production company, Overbrook Entertainment, have just secured the rights to produce the remakes of the ’70s films “Uptown Saturday Night,” “Let’s Do It Again” and “A Piece of the Action,” according to a spokesperson for the company. The web of intrigue surrounding the “Spider-Man” soundtrack continues to grow, but a few additional details have emerged from the sticky strands. An anthem called “Hero,” a collaboration between Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, Saliva vocalist Josey Scott, Theory of a Dead Man guitarist Tyler Connolly and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron will be the second single on the album, a source close to Nickelback said. Silverchair has completed work on their eagerly anticipated label debut. The album – titled “DIORAMA” – is currently slated to be released in North America on July 9th. Their first new album in three years, “DIORAMA” is unquestionably Silverchair’s most multi-dimensional work to date.
