A Beverly Hills Police Department spokesperson confirmed to E! News Tuesday that Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden is being investigated for allegedly roughing up a woman over the weekend outside of celebrity hotspot Mr. Chow. According to TMZ.com, which first reported the incident, the woman who filed a complaint against Madden is a photographer who was trying to snap a pic of the rocker and girlfriend Nicole Richie as they left the restaurant through the back door. Cartel are not the sort of guys you’d expect to catch on an episode of MTV’s “Cribs.” For one, they all live under the same ancient roof: a home guitarist Nic Hudson inherited from his grandmother last year. Much has already been written about the Shins’ new album, Wincing the Night Away (which comes out Tuesday), including the fact that the majority of the songs were inspired by singer/songwriter James Mercer’s bouts of “crippling insomnia.” Whether or not that’s entirely true is debatable , but what’s more interesting is the fact that, for the first time in almost 15 years of playing together, the Shins have become a band about which much is written.
