Sears And Brian McKnight Announce Partnership For Fall Tour


Brian McKnight has been tapped to join the Sears, Roebuck and Co. family for a nationwide tour that coincides with the release of McKnight’s latest Motown project, “superhero,” streeting Aug. 28. The “Sears Presents An Evening With Brian McKnight” tour kicks off in Cleveland on Sept. 19, with stops in 38 cities, wrapping up in Hawaii in December. Music House BMG Mulls Job Cuts


Job cuts are under consideration at Bertelsmann’s troubled music division as the company scrambles to slash costs and restore profitability, a spokeswoman said Tuesday. Regine Hofmann said cuts at Bertelsmann Music Group were being discussed but added that the company had not yet finalized its restructuring plan. “We are in the middle of restructuring, but everything is being reviewed for ways to cut costs,” Hofmann said, adding that plans should be finalized sometime this summer. A.J. McLean's Mom Is Proud Of Him


The mother of A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys says she’s proud of her son for seeking treatment for depression and alcohol abuse. “I was very proud of him for realizing he had a problem and doing something about it on his own,” Denise McLean told Orlando television station WKMG on Wednesday. McLean began a 30-day treatment program earlier this week, forcing the group to postpone the rest of its U.S. and Canada tour dates. Littrell Donates To Sheriff's Dept.


Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys was so grateful that Cherokee County deputies recovered his two Chihuahuas that he donated $10,000 to the Sheriff’s Department to buy new bulletproof vests. “Out of the blue, we received a check from Brian Littrell, who lives in Cherokee County,” said Sheriff Roger Garrison, who showed off the new vests Wednesday. “The $10,000 enabled us to buy 30 vests.” The new vests will allow Garrison to replace outdated ones. One of rock’s more upbeat bands, Blink-182, will scrub dour rockers Staind from their three-week reign atop the Billboard 200 albums chart next week. Blink-182’s new album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, which boasts the radio hit “Rock Show,” sold nearly 350,000 copies last week and will land at #1, according to SoundScan data released Wednesday (June 20).
